What Is Digital Health? Technologies and Impact
Digital health explained: telehealth, EHRs, mHealth, wearables, remote monitoring and health data — what the technologies do and what evidence supports them.
Telehealth delivers consultation and care at a distance, by video, telephone or asynchronous message. It works well for many kinds of consultation and is unsuitable where examination or a procedure is required; the interesting questions are almost never about the technology and almost always about which encounters should be remote.
We report on access as well as convenience. Remote care can reach people who could not otherwise attend, and can exclude people without connectivity, devices, language support or a private place to speak.
